Funds from Membership Dues Payments support the following programs:
Student and post-doc membership subsidy. We offer students and post-docs membership for the duration of their training with a single one-time fee. Their memberships are renewed annually at no cost as long as they continue their training (up to and through the end of first post-doc).
Society Membership in FASEB (Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology). FASEB's strength is in their lobbying power and prowess in Washington, D.C. Their extensive work with Congress and the Senate has made a difference in recent years with funding.
Travel Stipends for students and post-docs. Stipends provided annually to support travel to the annual meeting.
Society Awards. The Robert J. Cotter New Investigator Award and the Catherine E. Costello Lifetime Achievement in Proteomics Awards are funded each year by US HUPO.
Exciting and Engaging Annual Meeting. The cost of the annual meeting is not fully supported by registration fees and corporate support. Expenses are partially covered by membership dues collected. Help us to continue providing a high-quality annual conference packed with networking and social activities alongside the highest quality proteomics research presentations.
US HUPO is a member society of the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB) since 2016. This means that US HUPO has a voice and representation in FASEB legislative initiatives and activities. FASEB is a vocal proponent for funding of scientific research, for example. The society has exposure to an array of fellow scientific member societies broadening awareness of proteomics and US HUPO. FASEB membership also parlays a number of individual benefits that are available to US HUPO members. Read more about FASEB individual member benefits.
