US HUPO is Looking for a Social Media Chair! 

Objective: To create and share content with US HUPO members using Twitter, as well as encouraging new members to join the organization. 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience managing multiple social media accounts
  • Strong written and verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented
  • Independent, self-starter
  • Ability to connect with a diverse audience

Social Media Chair Responsibilities:

  • Develop a consistent posting schedule, in conjunction with Conference Solutions, to ensure active promotion of upcoming US HUPO virtual and in-person events.
  • The posting schedule should consist of a minimum of 4 new tweets per month.

o Additional engagement will be requested in the weeks leading up to the annual conference and live tweeting at the Annual Conference.

o All tweets should include the #ushupo, #ushupoecr or #ushupo23 hashtag to help drive engagement.

o US HUPO encourages using images to accompany tweets and personality (when appropriate) to increase visibility.

o Can retweet posts that would be of interest to the US HUPO membership (beyond the 4 new monthly tweets).

  • Tweet contents may include:

o Conference location highlights (i.e. 10 reasons to come to the conference location)

o Conference program highlights (featured speakers, short courses, etc.)

o Sneak peeks on upcoming ECR and VMO events

o Registration and award deadline reminders

Responsibilities & Requirements:

  • Communicate regularly with Conference Solutions, the US HUPO Board and Directors and be accessible via email.
  • Exemplify professionalism as a representative of US HUPO.

o Avoid tweeting about politics, controversial science, or anything negative in tone, unless directed to do so by the Board of Directors. When in doubt, ask!

o Avoid personal biases; keep the tone of all tweets positive.

  • Commit to a minimum of a one-year term.

  • $500 annual stipend, paid quarterly.
  • Complimentary registration, economy air travel and hotel accommodations to attend the US HUPO Annual Conference.
